Does this ground solder joint look suspicious?

Postby Sven Larsen on Thu Apr 26, 2012 3:41 pm

Hey folks,

I play a Yamaha guitar, recently I've been encountering a lot of noise issues, so I took a look at the ground in the back and the solder job looks kind of sketchy to me. However, I'm fairly inexperienced with this kind of thing, so I wanted to ask you all, does this solder joint look like it could be the cause of some unwanted noise? If so, can I just try to reinforce it with more solder, or would it be best to desolder the thing and start fresh?

Thanks for your time!

well i would have cleaned the rosin up a tad, but it looks like it flowed on both surfaces, and doesn't look like it would be the source of *new* issues.

what kind of noise issues are you having?

constant? intermittent? buzzing? humming? clicking? scratching? squealing? popping? you've tried other guitars with the same amp and are sure it's the guitar?

a sound clip is worth a thousand words :)

The ability to play/make music is a gift that not everyone gets. Those of us who have it should use it.

Asimov:Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today — but the core of science fiction, its essence, the concept around which it revolves, has become crucial to our salvation if we are to be saved at all.

Solder are good , normal, you don't need to do anything with.

Yes, what is your noise problem ?
