Having a go at making a Strat

Postby ian frankish on Mon Jul 18, 2011 9:01 pm

It's been a long time since my first post here when I made my Les Paul and now I've finally got round to making a Strat :D

I will post more pics as work progresses but here are some to be going on with.

Started finishing things off. I've made the back cover plate out of steel and inset it as I don't like the plastic surface mounted one that Fender use. I have also made the neck plate and engraved the serial number 003 as this is my third attampt at making a guitar.

Thanks Baron..... The paint is called Lagoon Blue but I think a guy was mixing his own and selling two litre tins on ebay - he probably made the name up!!

I here Irene has not been as bad as feared in New York so hope you got through it ok.

Love the color, I am a nut case for lake placid blue, still haven't found "the" one.

http://www.google.com/imgres?q=lake+pla ... 29,r:6,s:0

Weather-wise, we made out ok here (1-3 inches of rain, no wind damage), but 100 miles east they got 12 freaking inches of rain on top of one of the wettest Augusts on record so there has been major flood damage near Albany and surrounding areas. I guess Vermont got the crap kicked out of it as well, 5 million people on the eastern seaboard without electricity, some without water as well. They say is could have been worse as the winds died down pretty quickly once it hit land, but the quantities of water that it dumped were beyond belief...

Progress update - with a bit of luck I will start assembling it in the not too distant future.

The engraving of the pickup coves isn't the best bit I guess it will have to do
