Acoustic 301/Distortion

Hi all,

I just bought an Acoustic 301 and a friend of mine thinks that running a distortion/fuzz pedal through it could damage the 18" speaker. Something about larger speakers not being able to handle heavy distortion. Is this true or total hogwash? Seems to me a heavy duty cab like that is ready for all eventualities.

Hogwash. But you might not get as much bighty distortion, due to the lack of highs from the cab (not just the driver, the horn tends to filter out highs). You'll get more growl type stuff than 'suzz'. Which I basically prefer. Think I already said this on another forum, but figure put it here, might help someone else.
