My bass rig

Postby godofthunder on Sun Dec 19, 2010 4:55 pm

I have used nothing but tube amps since the 70's, well ok I once bought a GK 800RB, I sold it inside of three months and went back to my beloved Marshalls. Marshall majors were the mainstay of my rig for years. Recently I have switched over to Hiwatt. Here is my current Hiwatt rig a 1975 DR201 ( from Slade's backline) a 2150 and a SE4123. This rig sounds fantastic! I often run a Hiwatt 100 bass or a Sound City 200 plus and other cabs wit this rig.Image

The most beautiful rig I've seen in a while. Reminds me alot of my own rig (SE2150 + SE4122 +DR103). Maybe someday I'll stumble across a DR201.

That's a real beauty rig!

Speaking of Majors: I run early 70s Super Basses as my mainstays, but I've always wanted to try a Bass Major out!!! :jam:

Cheers!

Something about that pic seems familiar...

What kind of speakers did you end up loading the SE4123 with???
I have more gear than I need...but not as much gear as I want...

"Roll over Woodstock - we won!" & "Music is life, and life is not a business." (Iggy Pop 3/15/10)

"but lately one or two has fully paid their due for working for the clampdown...HAH, Gitalong, Gitalong"

"I believe, believe, believe, that there's better days ahead. I believe, believe, believe, that there's a heaven before I'm dead."

Wonder why ?? lol For the time being I pulled the Celestion Sidewinders from my Marshall JCM 800 cab. Not my favorite speaker ..............it was a budget move. At some point soon I hope to put in Eminence Deltas. The Celestions can sound a little harsh.

Are those Sidewinders 15" or 12" ?

So they're S12-150 speakers? If they're 8 ohms and you decide to sell them, please let me know. I'd be interested in them.

Thanks.

Cheers!

.This thread just made my day!!
I've gotten tons of great advice from this forum (psycho bass guy) and decided that a vintage Hiwatt cab would best suit the philosophy/tone I'm trying to achieve....but I wasn't sure until I watched the youtube clip you posted. Awesome!!
This is where i'm at now..
Image
Ampeg SVT blue line to 2-2x12" Earth cabs (....eh), vintage '62 split coil pup P bass with flats.

I'm still a little confused about the sealed cab for bass thing?? I just know that my bass idol, Glenn Cornick, used them

Thanks for the compliment. Our Halloween gig in Buffalo's old central train Terminal. The guy shooting the video is right in front or the guitar players rig but you can still hear the bass pretty good! http://youtu.be/puXgsX5FTaw
