Stuff You'd Like To Play But Just Can't Seem To Nail

Tone isn't just in the gear, its in your fingers and your head

Bingo, it's just that we don't want to admit that practicing is boring.

+1 on Jeff Watson's "Don't tell me you love me" solo. Slow temp sure, but speed it up, and my picking hand isn't clean enough.
Have also been watching some doug Aldrih YouTubes and talk about frustrating.

I do agree with what many have said though. Technique should be a servant and not a master.

Musically, perhaps not. Jaco Pastorious supposedly never practiced the same thing twice.

Anyone use "Best Practice"

A neat little program to slow stuff down without changing pitch.

Heres a link if you haven't seen it before: http://www.xs4all.nl/~mp2004/bp/

Kind of cheating but if you want to learn it.

most everything jimmy page related though i never try to "nail" anything anymore more just capture the basic feel for each song close ive never tried to completly copy a song note for note song for sound personnaly i think its just boring i like to let my own style through a bit when playing other songs nothing to drastic but enough so im comfortable

I have a heck of a time at the end of the outro solo on 'Go Your Own Way' as Buckingham plays it. I've heard him play it several ways, and the version I like is the most difficult for me. I've never seen a video of anyone playing it this way so I'm pretty much winging it by ear. I can hear it, I just have a difficult time playing it fluently.

Many solos by Neil Giraldo give me fits as well. Many are more difficult for me to play than Buckingham's.

I find this truly amazing someone who has never heard of what most consider the best bass player that ever lived.
He is to bass what Hendrix is to guitar!

I seem to recall reading or hearing somewhere that Buddy Rich never practiced and never warmed up before a gig. I could google that, I guess, but then I might find out that it's not true...(heh)...

I suck at slide!!!

I havent' settled on whether or not to use my middle finger ala Billy Gibbons, my ring finger like most or my pinky...

I just can't get the feel of deadening the strings behind the steal/brass/glass. I also don't pour much time into trying :D I just expect it to come as easily as playing does ...lol. And I've put a lifetime into that so I guess I get what I put into it huh? It still pisses me off that it just doesn't come naturally.

Just tried again...I still suck at it. ARRRGGHHHHHH :POd:
