speaker advice please

That elusive piece of the overall equation, so many options and so little time to test them all — Celestion, Fane, Eminence, Jensen, JbL, Utah, Ceramic, Alnico, 1x12, 2x12, 4x12, 2x10, 4x10, 1x15, 2x15, 4x15, 1x18 and I'm sure there are even more!

speaker advice please

Hi,

Need some advice on a speaker..

I have an original (orange) CUBE 60 guitar amp in which I need to replace the speaker.

I don't seem to be able to find any specs online so I was wondering if anyone here knows anything?

I need to find out the watts and ohms ratings of the original speaker and suitable wattage and ohmage of any replacement speaker so I know what to buy.

I happen to have a working 80 Watt / 15 Ohm Celestion speaker - could I use that? Or would it endanger the amplifier?

Many thanks for any help.. :)

From this info:

Cube 60 Manual wrote:You can connect external speaker here.
When connected, sounds are played from both the CUBE-60
and the external speakers
* When connecting to an external speaker, make sure the speaker
conforms to the following specifications.
Impedance: 8 Ω maximum
Allowable power input: 60 watts minimum

I would hazard a guess as to say the original speaker is/was also 8 ohms and that the amp is tolerant of 8 and 4 ohm loads. If this were a hearty ol' Fender amp, running a 16 (or 15) ohm speaker would probably be fine. I don't know how over-engineered Cube 60's are, so I'd suggest you stick with an 8 ohm replacement.
