Dean Markley 4x12 cab.....what's up wit dat?!

That elusive piece of the overall equation, so many options and so little time to test them all — Celestion, Fane, Eminence, Jensen, JbL, Utah, Ceramic, Alnico, 1x12, 2x12, 4x12, 2x10, 4x10, 1x15, 2x15, 4x15, 1x18 and I'm sure there are even more!

hey yall....i just ppicked up an '84 Markley cab. I cannot find squat about these things. but, it was cheap...couldnt resist it. anyway....the speakers arent labeled at all....not even any cone code.

but "67" is Eminence's EIA code. So i know that much! lol- made in 1984. Big ol' dust caps....so i figure it's prolly a high powered speaker? they are def. 16 ohm. measured around 12.8

Can anyone enlighten me on these things? I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

hey thanks bud! the dude i bought it from said they are pretty "rare". he dint know the power rating either. Dang.....dont wanna blow em with my super lead! lol

according to previous owner.....these were Markleys personal favorite cabinet/spkr. arangement. Not sure why there are TWO jacks on the back. for stereo or something?

funny thing.....it's a front loading cab. WELL built -thick plywood. Thicker than my old marshall cabs. thing is.....i have no idea how the baffle board is removed. there are no exposed screwheads! i just bought it for the "cabinet" actually.....figured i'd put diff spkrs. in it. but, as of right now....i dont know how to access the inside! lol

Probably to facilitate daisy chaining a second cabinet.

 10-4....i'm not really familiar with stuff like that. lol Thank you! you'd still drop the ohm selector on the amp to 8 ohm, correct? -if "daisy chaining" two 16 ohm cabs?

Yes. It's a parallel connection, either way (running from head to each cab or from head to cab to cab). Two 16 ohm cabs in parallel = 8 ohm total load to the amp.
