Papa - Thank you for your time and patience – I'm hoping it will give me a sound similar to that of my SC one hundred MK1 which was stolen beginning of this year- devastated

I know it's not going to be the same but hey ho :fingersx:

you got a serial number for that Mk1? them's rare birds, we need to be keeping an eye out for it.
there is a Sound City Owners Group on facebook and that would be a good place to post the information.

I used the low gain normal jack for a master control in mine.. Just stow it with a wire tie...
Simple PPIMV will do it..

glad that works for you
I absolutely despise PPIMV, especially on a Sound City.
yeah, they "work" but I do not like the idea of pushing the phase inverter that hard.
especially with that particular power amp structure.
But, YMMV, to each his own, etc, etc, ad nauseum.

Guys, i'm a bit late. But there's a nice trick on MK3 and 4 with reverb loops.

Insert the master volume in there. With a pedal even!

And, it's even quietening the dreaded 120's hum! :D
Huh?

that can work, and work well.
However, in the case the OP had already tapped his chassis
and had a new face plate made.
The way that I tol him to do it the reverb loop remains.
So he can use what he installed as a master volume OR a reverb return attenuation (if he us running something in the loop)
win/win, dontcha think?
Otherwise I would have suggested a different approach.

I know that for a while PPIMVs were all the rage.
They seem to work OK on a more traditional Schmidt inverter.
I do not like the way the work on the PI in the Sound City circuit. YMMV.
Thing is, they are more complex, and more difficult to "get right.
AND they put a lot of stress on the PI.
For dubious results. ND it depends on what sort of sound you are trying to get.
Again, YMMZ, to each his own, different strokes, yahda yahda yahda...
