Burman GX3 Preamp Schematic & Repair Help

Postby Scout And Joker on Thu Feb 18, 2016 12:19 am

I recently bought a Burman GX3 preamp and it barely works. Lots of buzzing like a ground loop and a weak thin guitar sound. Does anyone have a schematic for this so I can figure out what's wrong?
Inside one of the green wires was disconnected. When reattached loud screeching is heard. I have attached a photo.

I remember these GX3s were great, but this one needs help. Any techs in Los Angeles that are familiar with this obscure preamp?

Ironically, I need one too for the same reason although different symptoms. I'm surprised noone's helped out so far.
Burman Pro501 (ex-Lindisfarne), Burman Pro 4000HD (1976?), Burman Pro4000HD (1984?) with 10 hours playing time, Burman GX3 preamp.

No photo attached? It usually works out easier to link to a photo hosting site.

Try a PM to tracynorton memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=3876

It doesn't look to be a channel switching type pre-amp, so no vactrols, relays to go wrong; it should be a simple signal trace really

But have you tried the generic basic stuff first, check for - bad tube, bad contact on fx loop, bad contact on input socket, bad contact on output level switch, dirty / faulty pot?
