Films..

A little bored with much of what hollywood serves for quite some time. I know there are some buffs here.. Mr. Arkadin, you still around? Anyhow, thought I'd put out a couple favs to start with links to netflix.

Nordwand / North Face. One of my favorite films with Ulrich Tukur. A competition of scaling Eiger in the Alps. It's a brilliant piece of art and suspense.

The Boy In Striped Pajamas. A moving film of a boy befriending another behind the fence in Poland. This is up for stream..

Beware Mr. Baker (Ginger) on netflix
If you're up to theaters, Born To Be Blue was both interesting and depressing. Chet Baker story; better him than me.
Jungle Book was good, Money Monster and X-Men Apocalypse

Very good choice, liked that one as well..

This mid 80s East German / Stasi is another favorite here, Ulrich is in this also. The Lives of Others.

Another East German film worth the rent is The Tunnel, a true escape story.

Not much for vamp films this one ranks high for us here. Let The Right One In.

Beware Mr. Baker was a good film, The Boy in Striped Pajamas was also good, but what a horrible ending.

Although it's not a 'Flick' per se, I liked the Norwegian TV Series 'Lillyhammer'. It stars Little Stevie Van Zandt, and the language is divided anout 50/50 English and Norwegian, subtitled in English. Little Stevie had input on the music selection on the show, so the music ain't bad either. --Also, The Boss himself puts in a cameo appearane in one of the episodes.

Ok, point made, retitled to Films.. The Lilyhammer series was a favorite for us. Van Zandt was a good choice for that role, he did that well. Too bad they cancelled the fourth season. If mentioning series, I'll throw in Boardwalk Empire and Strike Back.

'Remember' with Chris Plummer and Martin Landau is worth a view, it's dark with a twist. No spoiler but wait for the end.

As lifelong friends Zev and Max move into their last years, they make a solemn pact to hunt down and take revenge on the Nazi commander who was responsible for slaughtering their families during World War II.
