New Amp - " Old " Plexi 45

Postby sdlogan9 on Wed Feb 18, 2015 12:02 am

I bought this from a friend the other day.

Does anyone know anything about these?

Especially since this looks to be serial number PL - 0006

I assume that make this number 6 ?

And is there any difference between the early ones and the newer ones?

don't think so except for no power dampening but my advice is to put the best tubes you can find in that bad boy.
i played one with generic tubes and it was nice, and then another next to it with vintage preamp and power tubes and it was religious.

Yes I agree !

It currently feels just a little stiff. I would bet it's bias'ed cold... I ordered some NOS tubes and will warm up the Bias as soon as I get the new tubes in it.

any recommended bias settings for this amp"?
