hey guys
anyone able to comment on [what looks to me like] the non standard parts added to the cheaper of the two heads
e.g. the large carbon comp resistor tacked from the board over to what looks like one of the power valves?
what effect would this have?

there looks like some bias pot mods and replaced PI caps plus some added ceramic bright caps to both vol pots...
will the one on the bass channel pot just help to brighten it up a little to keep up with the treble channel? for blending perhaps...

nice amps !

Pretty spot on. The extra resistor is an additional dropper for the screens, typically 1k (with two 470R, one on each valve base). Neither amp has the correct GEC KT66s which, to be honest if you are asking full whack is what I would expect, or maybe they are cheap and a buyer will be happy to drop another £300 t0 500 on a nice pair of NOS KT66s? The 7581A on the cleaner of the two probably sound ok tho'.

ah , i see , thanks neil
a little extra screen r for the non kt66 types.
ive got a bass variant but put a 100pf dogbone on the high treb vol pot years back which lifts it [ at least enough for me ] out of mud territory.
the dearer one on the auction looks real clean
cheers
