REEVES CUSTOM JIMMY-HOW GOOD IS IT?

Postby russellhammond on Sun Jun 23, 2013 1:51 pm

I've been looking for the RAH 1970 Jimmy Page tone for a while now and found 'reeves' custom amps (based on 70's Hiwatts).
Can anyone tell me how close they are to that sound?

Many thanks, Russell

From what I've heard the Jimmy is supposed to be a RI circuitwise to those amps. I believe Page's amps had some tweak to them in the pre-amp section that differed from stock Hiwatts at the time but featured in later amp designs, which in essence makes it a transitional model.

I am looking for a new amp. My style is similar to MK but with a little gilmour as well. I currently play a strat through a fender twin 65 RE. Great amp but I am tired of using an effects board and would like a higher gain amp to compensate for the overdrive. Any suggestions? I have thought of a deville or something along those lines
