Sound City 2x15"

Does anyone out there have a Sound City 2x15" bass cab? I think it was called F215. It was a straight cabinet with two 15" woofers, no reflector-type cab, just straight front. I would very much like to know a little about these cabs.

Calling Mr. Painterman!! (He has a DMI-era F215 cab.)

In case you haven't found the SC Site, Hyldmo, go here for starters.

I believe the stock 15s in the F215 were this Eminence model.

Good luck!

Here's a few pics of mine. I got it at GC a few years ago for $150. Made in 1977 and loaded with Rola's.

Im in the process of building a custom 2x15". Not a copy of anything, but I would like to know some of the measurements of the cab to work with when making my own design. I have requested info about the Hiwatt SE2150 as well. Can anyone of you two help me with some measurements?
I have visited the soundcitysite several times, great site.

As far as speakers are concerned, I think I will try out the new production Fane 15". Anyone tried these in a 2x15" cab?

Thanks for your kind help guys :D

Hi 53vin. Any idea how many watts these speakers can handle? I've got two 8 ohm like these sittin' around.

An exact answer? No.

A guess? No more than 100 Watts each, and even then be careful (but I'm really conservative when it comes to using vintage speakers, especially for bass).

Good luck!

Thanks...these are in an old Sunn 2x15 cab. A little too close for comfort w/ a model T or a sc b150. I'll try one for guitar @ 50w

I had one of the SC 610H cabs with my 200+ for a little while. It didn't sound all that hot for bass. I sold it for a profit though.

I play it with a 4x12 cab now

I own a Soundcity 2x15 "f215" it was made in the early 70's. I used it with a soundcity L120, I recently sold the head. Does anyone know how much a fair price to ask for such a nice cabinet would be. I haven't seen one of them sell on ebay. Shipping cost would be outrageous on such a heavy item. It has a great sound. I really liked the fact that you could switch the cab from 4 to 16 ohms I ran a 4x12 and a 2x15 at 100 watss and 8 ohms from the head. Sounded great and was incredibly loud and clear. Any one interested in the sc cabinet, its in really good shape all around.

I have that same cabinet and I'd be interested in selling it.
