Sound City Bass 150 speaker outputs & using 2 cabs

Postby arbitrary on Mon Feb 20, 2017 4:25 am

I just picked up a sound city bass 150 and was curious if I can use 2 4 ohm cans with it. Would I just plug each 4 ohm cab into each output? or would I blow it all to pieces? Is this possible at all?

thanks!

Mine didn't have 2ohm output options. 4/8/16, so you've have to use a series box for 8ohm to use two 4ohm cabs.

thanks for the info. I just tried a google search & couldn't find one. Do you know where I could get a series box?

thanks

you could build one for cheap
But, since they are 4-ohm cabs, how many speakers @ what ohmage are in these cabs? How are they wired?
if they are, for instance, 4x12 cabs, they have either 16-ohm speakers or 4-ohm speakers. Either way, it can be wired to 16 ohms
if it is a 2x15 the speakers are likely 8-ohm. wire in series for 16 ohms
if it is a single 18, there is no way to change the impedance of that cab.

you can run 2x16 ohm cabs with the head set at 8 ohms, 2x8 ohm cabs with the head set at 4 ohms. 1x16 ohm cab with the head set for 16 ohms, and etc. but not 2x4 ohms, unless you run them in series as Oli suggests, then the head would be set at 8 ohms.
