Whats the age of my Sound City?

Postby phlizmo on Tue Jul 29, 2014 9:22 am

Just posted a thread about this but it was deleted possibly? :dunno:

Ive been away for some years and don't know if I angered the plexi godz by accident. If so I apologize.

Anyway, I just finally picked up a Sound City 50+. As I said in my previous post it may or may not have been owned by EVH, (so goes the rumor
etc...etc...) Its awesome. I love it. 70s rock tones on tap when cranked. So I posted an instagram photo of it, (still sorting out what happened to the earlier post), but this could've been the issue.. So I will tell you..

The serial number is 2057. Any Idea on its age?

Not that easy, see http://soundcitysite.com/faqs.htm
Where is the 12AT7 / ECC81 phase splitter socket sited - between the power tubes or behind the OT?
Some caps may have a date code and be original.
