Thanks to Old School Dave's post in the Marshall forum on a PBS Hendrix documentary I searched and found this.
Thanks Dave. Check out the amp head on the right!

Looks to be a Mk1 100 watt sitting atop Marshall Bass cabs.
Legend has it that when he was preparing for his first US tour with the Experience he was asked whether he would prefer Marshall or Sound City and replied "one of each".
Supposedly he liked the cleans of the Sound City to contrast with the grit of the Marshall.

Sounds likely as its a very sensible idea for sound.

I run the same way too.

I've got a Marshall 2103 100 watt 2/12 combo on one side and a Sound City 50 Plus with the 6/10 cab on the other side.
I run stereo using a Rocktron Tsunami Stereo Chorus as the last effect in my chain.

I tame the Sound City using a Tom Scholz Power Soak.

The sound is really nice and fat.

I bet it is. Nothing quite like stereo chorus with divided speakers. Can you post a picture?

I would really like to get the dimensions(height, width, depth) on this era of Sound City cabinet if anyone here can tell me.

Also the thickness of the 'lip' if that's the correct term . It appears to be not as thick as the Marshall cabs, and I know it's not as
thick as my Hiwatt cabinets .

Anyone ?

Just measured my '69 MK3 era cab. 29-11/16" x 29-11/16" x 12-7/8". Lip = 1-1/8".
