lookin' fer parts

I am in need of a Sound City 200+ Mark 4 pre-amp or power-amp board.
Stripped, partially stripped or otherwise.
Working or not working.
I will be having some turret boards built, and need a sample to send to the builder.
Other bits, such as damaged faceplates from which I might derive a pattern for making replacement parts would also be appreciated.
Thanks much

Honestly, If i am gonna make a go of restoration parts for sound city amps I am gonna need samples of faceplates for the 120, the 50+ and etc. I cannot seem to find a pre-existing source for the artwork, so I gotta start "from scratch" as they say. Even some parts that have been messed up with extra holes and such could be of value.

I contacted the gentleman in St. Pete and he said he could prolly do the 34 turret boards for the 200+ just from my description and a picture.

I have one good unmolested 200+ Mark 4 faceplate, but have no 120 parts of any kind.
I also got my hands on a chassis for the 200, but still nothing for any other model.
Anything Sound City which a fellow member might have as spares or hacked up parts which there might be a need for in the repair/restoration community would be most welcome.

Back in November I started this thread looking for some samples so that I could start to make "repro" parts for folks restoring/repairing Sound City amps.

SO far I have a 200 head box, a 120 head box, a stripped 200 chassis, and a clean 200 faceplate.
I need a 120 faceplate, a bare 120 chassis, a 50+ head box and stripped chassis, and faceplate.
That should at least get things moving along. I have some rather poor Sound City Badges from the late/transitional DA era, and will be getting a few copied for my own use soon. I am also having some custom front and back head box covers made, along with a couple faceplates for my "clones" (which I aint gonna call "Sound City" no matter how close they are in design.)

Any help would be apreciated, and shipping or some gratuity might be available for contributors, as funds permit. But, I gotta have stuff to copy if I am going to ever be the "go-to guy for all things Sound City". I really hope that this is more than a pipe-dream.

Oh, yeah,
I am also looking for a 200+ power transfdormer for a proto-type 300 watt bass rig that I wish to build.
I KNOW that is gonna cost some bucks, so I have to budget for it.

As I have discovered. That makes building sleeves for at lest 2 models a much simpler matter, as all I have to do is take the generic sleeve and place the correct front and back panels. The 50+ and similar models are a different matter, as they are much smaller in "foot print" and I do not even know where there is an example to tape measure.

I think the 50 and the 120 slave have the same box, aside from front panels, I have a 50 PA here I could measure up. Let me know, I'll put it aside next pile rearrangement. Have you sourced the tadpole piping? I just have, so let me know if you want some, probably buy a reel of it and ebay lengths.

Oli,
I have been lookin for all sorts of bits and pieces, and to be honest, had not even thunk about piping, since I wont be using such frivolities on my clones.
I reckon I need to broaden my vision a bit.

I have some server space (ie an undeveloped web-site) where I am going to put up an online store. Prices wil be "ebay" prices without the silly bidding and all the fees and such.

Maybe some of the guys here have the idea that I am trying to "get something for nothing" and while I will admit that I will jump on pieces and parts being given away, folks really need to check out the first part of my signature. It hasnt changed in 3 years, and aint gonna change. TANSTAAFL There Aint No Such Thing As A Free Lunch.

I would obtain and give away stuff if I were a wealthy man, but things cost money to get (especially new) web space cost money, my bloody time is worth something, shipping has to be paid for, gotta keep stuff in stock somewhere, and on and on it goes. Getting samples of bits and pieces is just the start of a long process that, hopefully in the end, will benifit the whole community of Sound City heads.

Nothing, to me, has been more frustrating than to have something which I want to build or repair and not being able to find the proper parts ANYWHERE. You can get Marshall or Fender parts or even kits, but Sound City? Not bloody likely.

My dream is that a person could log onto my site and order whatever part they need to do a repair, rebuild or resto. I would even be willing (space and funding allowing) to put together a kit to allow one to start from a clean work bench and end up with the Sound City clone of their choice, except that I will never ever ship a badge with such a kit, unless it is special order one-off, cause I aint doing counterfits and will not support it being done, if I can help it.

Well, I'll have piping in stock pretty soon, and the 32+32uf caps suitable for Sound Citys and a ton of other amps at a sensible price. I get through tons, so jsut make my order a little bigger and move on the excess. The automotive contacts I have help with sourcing stuff a lot, lots of odd bits and pieces in common, because nothing was ever made specifically for amps, pretty limited market.
