Red Face Echoplex EP3? I can't find any info on it..

Some like 'em and some don't, but I bet everyone has at least a couple — Analog Delay, Digital Delay, Reverb, Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Tube Overdrive, Transistor Overdrive, Fuzz, Octave Fuzz, Tremolo, Vibrato, Compressor and the list goes on!

Red Face Echoplex EP3? I can't find any info on it..

I've had this red face plate (whatever you want to call it) Echoplex Ep3 for a few years now -- I still don't know squat about it's history or have been able to find any info on the red faced units at all.. Whats the deal with these? From what i can gather, they were produced right at the very beginning of the Ep3 production run -- My unit does not have the compressor board in it..

Mine has a SN# of 9827.

Any one have any insight on these units?

Mine needs a little work, probably going to send it off to get repaired soon!

I used to own a "red-face" EP-3. All I can tell you is that between all the tape machines that I have owned ( "THE PLEX, an EP1, another EP3, an EP4, a Dynachord Echolette and a RE201 Space Echo), the red one was far and away the best sounding tape delay I have heard. I guess I should include my buddies' Fulltone TTE. Not sure why. Maybe it was just the immaculate condition. I just found another on ebay and had it sent to a tape delay expert for repair and tune up because I had been looking for another red one ever since. And by the way, while I owned it, I called Mike Battle and spoke to him on the phone. I don't remember what all was said, I just remember him telling me that "you are very lucky" to own the red one. I think they are that rare. One just sold on Ebay for $675 and it was in average condition.
That's all I know. Hope that helps

I also own one of these and supposedly they are very rare, only made for a few months in 1970 if i remember correctly.
I do think your cover with the Echoplex logo has been changed, mine is all red, both panel and cover.
