JEN Crybaby, how to date it ?

Some like 'em and some don't, but I bet everyone has at least a couple — Analog Delay, Digital Delay, Reverb, Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Tube Overdrive, Transistor Overdrive, Fuzz, Octave Fuzz, Tremolo, Vibrato, Compressor and the list goes on!

Hi,

I have this wah but I have no idea when it was made or what it's worth :

My guess is early 70's as it has the red Fasel but I'd like to know a bit more about it.

It's a tricky business, but the solid red colour Fasel indicates it's the very first generation of that inductor. That board is the earlier type too, same as Vox...Jen later went to two other orange boards of the same configuration. That's the earlier Marquardt switch but that doesn't help with aging. My guess...early Fasel but black treadle might mean early 1970?

Pot codes aren't the best for reliability but see if you can pull a date off that.

Thanks for your help. I'll have a look at the pot in the morning, see if I can spot any kind of date. I know it's not an ICAR pot .
Would this wah be worth more than a King Vox with the TDK inductor ?

Italian wahs are almost universally the most collectable. They do fluctuate in price though. I've bought them for anything from €70 to €250 depending on condition and configuration. I would have said this would get €130-€150 a year or two back but the prices seem if anything to have gone up. A Vox logo pushes the value up more.

These are definitely the preferred and sought after wah, just bear in mind that they are still quite plentiful...particularly Jen branded ones.

The pot reads : 100KΩ/S ERT B6

Is B6 a date ? If so, what does it mean ?

Thanks for your help anyway, bigtomrodney ;)

That's an early 70's Italian Baby.. I've got exact the same with ERT pot but with ICC caps. ERT is closest to ICAR and from my understanding they started to use 'em after they run out of ICAR pots in late 60's/early 70's.
Mine is scary close sounding to Page's in MSG '73..it have that shallow quack
