looks like a typical dubious listing to me. 1963 amp that looks like it has just been made? it probably has.

that seller has been mentioned here before, i remember that cheesy photo at the bottom.

something like that is only worth its value as a replica in my opinion.

That has so many original unfakable parts but it is probably not as early as the headcab might suggest

this is what annoys me about those dealers. it clearly has a decent value as a lash-up, two or three grand? why not just be honest about that? but no, lets tell everyone its 100% original and add about 10,000 dollars more onto the price tag. driven by greed these people.

This one is interesting too, in the US with 'matching cabs' for just under £16 k.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-1963-Marshall-JTM-45-with-Matching-2-x12-CABS/370647998297?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D8072552229400052306%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D370647998297%26

More features that look like a '64 I have worked on (lots of subtle things).

Again not sure about the headcab front.

Irrelevant really , he won't get a sale at that price. Not doing himself any favors with that photo of himself looking like some putz Used Car Dealer.

*** Is that the correct Type R/S Mains Tranny for that early JTM-45 ? Shouldn't the Bell Cover have a lip that folds over ?

Mains cover corner has taken a hit somehow ???

Tolex looks wrong to me. As does extra large OPT cut-out, and tellingly it has one correct looking red mica cap and an incorrect brown one in the mixer section. Brown ones typically are post 66.

I agree it looks freshly built to me. Notice that it is located in the UK, I wonder where/who.

Yes the mixer is added (blobby solder on turret) but then a lot of PA amps had them added for guitar use.
That PT is a pretty generic replacement RS type, used by Marshall after the ones with self-leads and available off the shelf, there are a few that crop up now. It does not have the selector on top or access to the windings so that selector will be a dummy. The correct ones do have a folded over top cover. Usually the fakes have white front panels so either someone has started to make these (they were expensive at the time and are expensive to make now) or that one is an original. The choke is not quite correct for the 20H RS type.
The HT fuse inside could just be an update but the early amps did not have them. Output sockets are wrong, sure replaced in a heavily used amp but to be in that condition.........
The levant does not have the slight ripple pattern, yes the 4 screws etc, etc.
Too many questions for it ever to reach the asking price, I am with Superstar, it will sound like an original and could be used, but should be priced accordingly. What are opinions on the US one with the PA cabs??

I couldn't see all of Artisan's photos. I would get "x's" half the time but it seems more right than the tfes one. I seem to remember them listing MG items in the past, so this one kind of smacks of the latter...let's leave it there!

The large Mustards are dated - B4N from what I can see.

As confirmed by Ken Underwood, a '63 is a rare beast by any means. Sometimes you have to jog your mind on a year from what others beleive., This amp (as a 64) is more credible than the other one. e.g. PT with flying leads and those litle orange square 0.1uf RS caps on the presence control and one leg of PI caps, and black/white heater wires. (All not present on the other one).
