The Case of the $300 Nut!

Strangest ad I've seen.

I guess this is his way of protesting someone returning an amp.

this is hilarious!!!! i'm half tempted to get it..... but only half....

THIS “NUT” IS BEING SOLD FOR PARTS AND REPAIR so by bidding you are agreeing to accept it in whatever condition it arrives in! If you are unwilling to accept these terms, DO NOT BID!

You are buying the “NUT PICTURED”. Everything currently attached to “the nut you are buying” (in pictures) will be shipped to you along with “the nut you purchased” but is considered non-functional defective junk. I didn’t feel like removing the nut from the rest of it and you are taking full responsibility for properly disposing of the rest of it, if you see fit.

The rest of the amp/junk attached is a Model L50, SN# A1114 powered on and played but it is Old, Old ,Old and had a problem with random noise spikes that no one was able to repair (I spent a lot of money). It has been re-tubed and re-capped and I will include the old capacitors/junk that were removed (pictured) but no extra vacuum tubes, only the tubes/junk in the amp now. The amp/junk has many rips, tears, dings, cracks, breaks, defects, dust, dirt, oldness, and looks like it was used in World War II. Both volume pots have broken shafts and it probably needs all new pots, switches, cords, wires, components and everything else replaced. It’s sad that there are people who play games with sellers on ebay and that a seller has to list a “for parts or repair” item like this, but this is the world we live in. Enjoy the absolutely no refund, absolutely non-returnable possibly acceptable/unacceptable AS IS “TOGGLE SWITCH NUT” you are bidding on.

The ability to play/make music is a gift that not everyone gets. Those of us who have it should use it.

Asimov:Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today — but the core of science fiction, its essence, the concept around which it revolves, has become crucial to our salvation if we are to be saved at all.
