V4b 40-70 cap

Postby Pentode on Sun Jan 29, 2012 12:28 pm

Hi everybody,

Looking for a bit of advice...

I've picked up a V4b which needs a recap.

I'm curious about the 40-70 paralleled capacitors which are then wired in series presumably to give a theoretical 55uf @ 900v.

Would it be ok to use two 100uf 450v in series to give 50uf @ 900v (ok, so it's a bit lower but the tolerances are -10%/+30%...)?

Many thanks
Grahame :)
