Except for a few, the chops are gone...and the attitude has been lost somewhere along the way. There's still good music out there...if you look hard enough for it. But rock is mostly of the past now. It's gone over the hills and far away.
He that hath an ear, let him hear.

The problem with Rock, is that the lyrics to it mostly lacked depth. So it made its own path to boredom. But the music itself was pretty spectacular. I enjoyed those classic rock days and wouldn't have it any other way. Who cares if they couldn't dance or didn't care to. I certainly don't. Elect Libertarians and maybe would could find our way back for once!

Be thankful, we could have lived during the cave man era, which would have been a real drag!

(The Hold Steady)
lyrically, guitar-tone wise, & hook wise... this stuff is everything that was good about classic rock, but a lot smarter and does away with the worst of the cheese. :-)

Thing is, that despite common places, real rock and roll is extremely hard to play.
Needs great crunch - no 7 stages distortion - , incredible timing but most of all, great hands.

Really, really hard to accomplish.

Not to be a wag (well, not too much of one, anyway...). Folks were prolly saying that when elvis enlisted...

I bet if you live in a decent size town with some clubs, and a decent scene, there are some folks who "rock".

In the words of Han Solo " Not this ship sister" Orlando florida offers. blues blues blues and blues. If you are lame, wear flip flops and a bowling shirt, can stop in the middle of each verse and say your name, play one continuous song in 12 bars..you are a Orlando Musician. If you are desperate, really desperate for what some consider "rock" you can always go to the places that play that screaming stuff. You have to sound like a cross between a cat being microwaved and the Cookie Monster and scream "satan" and "kill your self" every verse into a megaphone. Oh and detune at least one step probably two and play like only two strings...then you too can be a Rock Musician in Orlando.

Every once in a while places like "The Social" (or what ever its called this week) will have a decent band from out of town. NOthing here though. There are guys who can play and people who want to rock, there just is no place for it. the bar owners and taverns want sissy blues. You hear college kids playing nothing but Son House and songs (just as out of time as Son himself) about steam trains explaining to musicians that Blondie is stealing and surpressing the Early blues man soul... Its a wonderful place to visit...with kids. Just don't pitch a tent here.

The Radio has the same, and the stations that only play like Sticks and Brown Eyed Girl. There is no real Rock in Orlando Florida.
