i like what you have done on those clips, sound like the man himself :D
Thanks bro! I appreciate the comments. Yeah, that is a great amp for Metal. The only thing that i really do to get closer to his old sound is lower that gain knob alot. Eds old sound has much less gain/buzz than alot of people think. Plus when i go through the Marshall Greenbacks that helps even more.

hey man you are the goods! ;) i would love to be able to dial that tone in for VH's tones, cause even though a play much heavier stuff most of the time, i really love that guys tone and could use more versitility from the combo!
so if i swap out the stock speaks with with these i will get that tone you get?

That Unchained clip is extremely close to the original. May I ask what your amp settings were and which channel you were playing on?

Thanks,

Thanks Frankie! I used the lead channel. For that song my settings were Lead Pre(hair before 2),Low 10, Mid 10, High 4, Resonance 10, and Presence between 7 and 8. I also used a DOD stomp box eq for that one and had the settings exactly like in this photo except the level was all the way up. Image

Thanks again R.I.P.P.E.R ;) Someone else asked me this awhile back about putting those speakers into the combo. I've never done it myself but i can't see why it wouldn't work. The sound will be a little different because it's not comming out of a 4x12 but if i had to guess it would probably sound great. As far as mods or tubes go, it's just the stock amp from the factory.

Thanks for the settings and signal chain information. Were you plugged into the high or low sensitivity input, and what guitar/pickup combo did you use?

Thanks,
Frank

I used the high input. This is the exact guitar i used with a Seymour Duncan 59 in the bridge.

VHoholic - just wondering if you could re-record the same clip again through the 5150´s speakers just to show the difference.
To infinity . . . and BEYOND!!!

noob to vintageamps and just catching up to this thread.
vhholic, what a great sound! It's great to know you can get this kind of chunk and growl without spending $2700, especially since I have this amp! Thanks for the settings info, I'll probably be hitting you for advice. I love vintageamps and all the tech talk but all you have to do is hear this amp with its stock everything, even tubes, to know that you can't always buy tone. Thanks for posting!
