Chet Atkins Gretsch 62RI pup quest

Postby MickUf on Fri Jul 31, 2009 11:20 am

I recently upgraded my pups to a set of TV Jones Filtertrons from the stock high sensitive and while I love the sound,I find the overall tone isnt as bright as Id like.Sounds a bit dead. Im comparing to a franken tele I have which also have filtertrons. Now the Tele used to have crazy hot humbuckers so I know the Pots are 500K. I realize wood is wood and the bodys are just completely diff but is there anything I can do to get that blanket sound to go away and really open it up? Are the stock pots ok? The TV Jones site I think rec 500k pots. I plan on changing the strings and playing with pup heights

Thanks
