acoustic guitar - lifted bridge

Postby ed_shred on Mon Feb 09, 2009 8:57 am

I have an acoustic guitar on which the bridge has lifted. On careful examination, I found that the immediate cause of the bridge lifting is that some of the bracing for the soundboard has become detached, allowing the soundboard to bow and the bridge to lift. It isn't an expensive guitar, it wouldn't be economical to pay for it to be fixed. So, I'm going to have a go at fixing it.

My questions are:
-firstly, what kid of glue should I use to re-glue the bracing?
-secondly, does anyone have any tips on clamping? The main cross braces both need gluing, as well as two or three minor braces. That is quite a lot of clamping, if anyone has any tips that would be useful.
-thirdly, should I try to remove the bow from the soundboard before re-gluing?

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
