Did 1977' Deluxe LP Have "USA" Stamp?

Postby vez on Mon Dec 05, 2011 4:11 pm

Hi,
Was there any Les Paul deluxes made in 1977 that had a serial number stamped but no "Made in USA" stamp on the back of the headstock?
I saw a 1977 Les Paul on Craigslist.
It had a stamped serial number but no stamped "Made in USA".
Now I know some Gibsons had a decal but this one had a stamped serial number.
The serial number was correct for the year.
I emailed the owner and he said that some of these guitars didnt have the USA stamp and that this made his guitar extra rare.
Was he giving me BS?
Thanks.
