1982 BC Rich Mockingbird?

Postby ValveLust on Mon Feb 23, 2009 4:26 am

What are these bringing these days, looked around and couldn't find any alikes or recent sales. Also any insight would be appreciated! Just found out it's an '82

It's the blue one (second pic).

I own a pair of Mockingbirds, one of them being an 84 w/Kahler trem. While these have gone up in price, I don't think they are commanding as much as the 70's models. I can't really give prices as I bought both of mine (the other is a 78) long ago. I do have a question though. Are you the guy in the pic and if so, what happened to all those albums? :P

While great playing guitars- they just don't have much value on the used market.

A dealer pal of mine had a great late 70's in natural which sat forever, eventually selling for about $1300.

Another pal has a red bich with "Lita Ford" inlaid on the board...can't sell it at an asking price of $2k

I have a 10 string bich, not worth 1/4 of what it would cost to make one this good.

so sell it cheap or better yet hang onto it.

We played all those clubs (Jezebels, Country Club, etc.) and I would have remembered that act...but I don't!!! Ahh, the 80's in LA...

BTW: That link is too funny!!! Thanks for sharing the nightmares, er memories...Hahahaha

It is a beautiful looking Bird. Are you selling or just figuring value?

Seriously, even though they are well made and play great, I'd guess in today's market it might fetch $800-1000, tops. YMMV unless you find somebody with a really intense 80's LA hair band fixation!!! :jam:

Hmm,

well, value is gonna depend on where you are. Most of these wound up in Japan in the hands of collectors. Out here on the Left Coast, won't get much for it, if anything these days. I would 2nd the $800 to $1k depending on whether it is USA or Japan made.

Take it easy!

I used to own an early 80's factory Pink Mockingbird, and I've been searching for it for the last 20 years or so. Has anyone seen any for sale? I found one on ebay, but it's an '84 and has black pick ups, and mine weren't black.

Thank you.

I sold an early 1980's natural Mockingbird earlier this year on Ebay for about $1700. Pretty sure it was put in a cargo container and sent to Asia: the buyer was buying A LOT OF STUFF. I think mine originally had gold plated schallers, but someone put Rotomatics on it (why they didn't put Imperials, I just don't know).

I am a buyer of both the Bich guitars in the aforementioned paragraph.
I much prefer the older USA made BCRs over any post-1965 Fender or post-1971 Gibson.

Anyone have a real USA made pre-1985 Seagull, Eagle, Mockingbird or Bich for sale... send them my way.
