Standby switch not working on DSL50, need help

Postby Marshall65 on Wed Aug 14, 2013 7:53 pm

Hi, just got a hold of a Marshall DSL50 head, and it seems to work ok, but the standby switch is not working properly.

The standby switch is always on, you can't turn it off.

Any tips or suggestions?

Thanks, vintage-man from Norway :)

does it physically not move? in which case replacing the switch would work

if it does move then perhaps someone bypassed it

if it's not bypassed, again a new switch would be the fix

The switch is not stuck. I opened the amp and two yellow cables are connected to the switch. It all looks original and not bypassed, so maybe a new switch will do the trick. I'll order one and keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks again.

if you have no electrical training/knowledge, you REALLY need to be careful.

that standby switch is hooked up to the HIGH VOLTAGE capacitors, probably...

if you touch it, and the caps are still charged, you could wake up DEAD :Zap:

Hi, I'm not dead yet. But the new switch did not do any difference. Anyone know where I can find a picture of how the button is originally wired?

Thanks again guys..!
