I am looking for this type of handle for my '62 2x12 closed back cab
Any idea on source?

Afraid not - they only sell the rubber ones with the chrome bars at the end - I even have a couple of spares of those.

I almost recovered the head in basket weave Vynidenand used this newer handle but it seems a shame to do that to a 62 cab that still has its original smooth covering and no extra holes.

Yes, it seems JMI was only one doing these and here's an example:

Also, someone who does leather crafts as a hobby could probably fix one up for you or maybe a shoe or luggage repair shop.

Thanks for link, I have a very similar handle from that source that is 8" hole centres (same a the Marshall JTM45s of early 60's.

I had thought that JMI were now defunct from recent posts here.

A forum member here has kindly offered one that should hopefully fit the bill.
