Six String Basses

I play a Carvin, and while I'm generally pretty happy with it, the flabby low B string gets on my nerves sometimes. Is this pretty par for the course with six string basses?

what's the scale length? some prefer a 35" scale for low B's. iti s a bit of a "problem" on a standard 34, but changing your string guage should reduce it as an issue.

I'm pretty sure it's 35. I never measured it, but I think that's the Carvin standard for their LB6.

Nope, it's 34. 35 is for Carvin's XP basses.

As Gypsy Moth said, changing the B for a thicker string will help. A 125-130 should do.

Also, try to get as much of a break angle over the nut as you can. When winding the string onto the pole hold it down to the head so that when it tightens it is at the lowest it will naturally hold. And don't have too much string wrapped round the pole. One or two wraps should be plenty.

Thanks. I'll try that. I've been using the six string sets from Carvin, and changing that B string is always a pain. I think I might have too many wraps on the pole.
