Question about Sidewinder amp tone control

Postby beckerdo on Thu Feb 04, 2010 6:40 pm

First time posting here. I've been looking at the descriptions of the Mojave amps on their website, listening to the audio clips, and wondering how to come up with some cash to acquire one of these.

I've been reading some of the features of the Sidewinder at http://mojaveampworks.com/index.php?id=11,0,0,1,0,0, and I really appreciate the independently voiced preamp channels. Sounds like a very good way to get two independent and infinitely combine-able tones. As the page says, "the independently voiced preamp channels obviate the need for tone controls such as bass, midrange, treble or presence".

OK, cool. I follow. Sounds reasonable. So can someone explain to me why the Sidewinder has a tone control? Does the tone control come at the preamp output while the channel volume come at the preamp input? Can anyone describe how they use these controls and what sort of effects this has on the sound?
