greenbacks bottom end/ VH II question

Postby mixohoytian on Fri Jul 24, 2009 3:44 pm

does anyone know what speakers Eddie used on VHII ? That's my fav evh tone.

I currently use g12m-25 greenbacks w/ my peacemaker.
I love the tone, but keep wondering if I'm missing a lot of bottom end by not using g12h-30's?
As for the bottom end I have, it sounds good. I have the peacemaker up around 8 and the hot plate at -4
nothing sounds flubby, it sounds cool, just wonder if there would be a huge difference in bottom end w/ the g12h30's

I found the greenbacks with the pulsonic cones seem to give more of the VH tone I don't have any 30's with the pulsonic lead cone but I'd love to get a couple just to see if they exhibit that complex low mid. But you should be in the ballpark for sure with 25's hell who knows black back 25's could be the ticket one only knows what he used then.

This probably has nothing to do with it but I saw it with my own eyes, a Red 4X15 marshall cab in that house he uses for equipment storage. I didn't even know they made those. I did see two old basket weave cabs in the studio with a long board across the tops of both of them holding a bunch of gear, sagging in the middle as well. It look like a matched top and bottom and they had 100 logos on them. Other then that, who really knows. All I know is that was 10 years ago now so that means about squat and a $1 will get me a cup of coffee at Dennys.

I've got this crapy one I did, my first few days with Logic, which is obvious as I didn't automate the in or out. I will fix it latter. Now that I've been learning Logic Pro 8 I feel I can start offering some better clips. Will get on it this week.

mentoneman,

how does that work?
you are limited to the output of the greenback right?
I have greenbacks and am thinking about taking 2 out and replacing w/ g12h-30, but it won't help with getting any louder
I'll still have to keep it same volume cause of the greenbacks
just not sure if I'd be getting all I can out of another speaker (when recording really loud) if it is not being pushed cause the greenback is holding it back...make sense?
