See Karen, no such thing as a dumb question!!! Also, I have a good buddy who uses an 800 and a tele, he's replaced his bridge pickup with an SD humbucker (not sure what model) that's the same size, he gets a great tone out of this setup.

Welcome Karen! It's true, there is a certain magic in the Les Paul / Marshall combination but lots of people here get great tone with Strats and Teles. One way to get the most out of single coil pups is to throw a FD II in front of your amp.

Or you can replace your bridge pick up with a humbucker like this:
