Upside down headstock????

Postby Tonedisciple on Mon Nov 25, 2002 12:18 am

Okay, long story short, a buddy just GAVE me a strat (no kiddin', a nice one) the trick is the truss rod isn't adjustable, so I need a new neck.

Now I had a wild hair insert itself up my butt, and I started thinking about how cool it would be to put a lefty neck on it, you know the whole upside down headstock-frankenstrat look.

My question is, can I still use the tuning keys off the original neck or do I need opposite facing (lefty) tuning keys?

The tuning keys are those fancy Schaller locking ones, so if I have to replace them to do the upside down headstock trick I'll probably leave it alone and go with a regular neck.

SHAMELESS PORN! If you scroll down > here < you can see my beast. Its custom designed/made and the tuners were off a Jackson "regular" headstock - no sweat bro :)

I started out with a MIJ strat. The only original parts are the tuners and the tremolo. :D
