Had a preamp tube acting up in my super

How can you get a great tone without a good understanding of what makes your amp tick? — EL34, EL84, 6L6, KT66, KT88, 12AX7, 12AT7, 12AU7, EF86, Output Transformers, Power Transformers, Capacitors, Resistors and everything else that it takes to make a tube amp sing!

Wrote Gerald Weber about it. He suggested using a bobby pin (absent the gooey plastic ends of course) to retension the socket pin retainers after bleeding off the caps. It works. But because the retainers in preamp tubes are so small, a little work on the bobby pin with some fine grit sand paper (you know the dark grey kind, what do you call it?) really makes the pin slip in that tiny space outside of the retainers a whole lot better and easier. Thought I would pass that along to those who like me have never tried to do this. No more loose tube hum from hell...The Stratman
