Who's got the biggest, ah transformer?

I've seen people say that the Marshall Major has a huge transform. So which one of our beloved amp's has the biggest. I won't touch which is the best as I don't want to start a war.
HiWatt DR401, Marshall Major, V8 Trace Elliot, Ampeg SVT, MATAMP 200, B200 Sound City, Marshall VBA 400 other??
Oh if this has been done, just let me know and I'll go away. :D :D
Jeff S

I pulled a set from a Traynor bass amp a few years ago that were big enough to be anchors for an aircraft carrier.

The old Sunn amps w/ 4 KT88s/6550s had huge Dyna transformers, they are 6" tall x 5" x5". I have one from a 1000S, and it will not fit inside a Marshall Major's case (I tried).

Here is a lot of Iron in a 200 watt monster head. Looks great but I've never heard one. Anyone know what the Matamp's sound like?
http://www.matamp.com/bass200backside.gif

I think the old SVT amps have to be a contender. Those heads weighed in at about 75 pounds or so...

I think the Matamp would get the award for most transformers...That is just weirdness...Is it two OTs and two PTs? As a former owner of an SVT and current owner of a giant Sunn/Dyna OT, I can attest that the the Sunn/Dynas are larger...at least the OTs...It's been awhile since I've seen the 400w Fender, anyone have the dimensions? BTW, I have a Bassman 100 chassis, sans OT, my 14 year old bassist is bugging me to build him a tube bass amp combining the Bassman and Sunn OT....Like his Colliseum 880 is not enough amp! It can be tough having 2 gearheads in the family.

ChrisM - Took a look at the PS400. Nice big O/T. I use to own an early SVT but I can't remember how big to compare. The PS400 didn't last to long from Fender did it? It seems like it should have been a winner from the output, unless everyone was just so tired for Fender during that time period. Everything they came out with seemed like ^%$^#^ compared to the BF and very Early SF stuff.
Jeff

Hiwatt 200 (DR201) Huge Partridges....so big that the head box often splits at the seams from the weight.

Trivia: The world's biggest transformer is built by an Austrian company named ELIN, and I believe each one handles two 500kV lines. I'll check on that, and post a picture for fun. We have a few of these out here at one of our subs. The weight and size is absolutely insane.

Jeff-
I think they were around for several years but they were too damn expensive. Huge too. It is like a twin reverb on serious steroids. Had mine fixed up recently and the tech was amazed by the engineering that went into it. It has 3 output windings for 3 145 watt loads. For each jack the cathode of a pair of 6550s is brought into use, so with one cab it is 2 6550's on to 6 for the 3 loads.
Not sure of the transformer size, can measure if I can move the thing....
chris m

TedB - When I first took my Dr201 out of the shell I was amazed at the size. Needless to say that is where this topic got started.
Have you ever seen the inside of the Dr4015. It weighs 1 pound more then the PS400. I don't remember the weight of my old SVT's as the purple haze was to thick to be able to remember them there daze. ;) ;)
Jeff S

Hey 24-bit. I'll get a copy of your 500kv trannies and do a mock up picture of them in a Marshall and HiWatt head cab.
What power tubes do you suggest for it, 6550's or KT100's? :D :D
Jeff S
