I'm thinking about getting one of these tubes that are available at tube depot. There are two variations of the tube: one with shiny nickel plates and one with gray plates.

Is there an audible difference between these tubes? or is it a purely cosmetic variation.

Well i've both..
Grey plates are older..
They're basically the same tube..BUT silver plate (unless they're gold pin) are a little bit more inconsistent in gain and are a little bit trebly..
otherwise they're identical!
Great tube!
Only tube imho that can stand to a nos..
