SE 6L6WC bias setting

How can you get a great tone without a good understanding of what makes your amp tick? — EL34, EL84, 6L6, KT66, KT88, 12AX7, 12AT7, 12AU7, EF86, Output Transformers, Power Transformers, Capacitors, Resistors and everything else that it takes to make a tube amp sing!

SE 6L6WC bias setting

Just finished a "mega" champ kit with a cathode biased 6L6WC power tube. Getting 297 on pin 3 and 19v bias at 41mA, does this seem ok? If not what sort of resistor do I have to use? Currently a 20W 470r.

thanks

That's pretty cold (.041 * (297-19) = 11 watts), I would try 330 ohms or so and see where that gets you. It's class A so you could bias it as hot as 100% dissipation.
