Vox Blue speakers 1963

That elusive piece of the overall equation, so many options and so little time to test them all — Celestion, Fane, Eminence, Jensen, JbL, Utah, Ceramic, Alnico, 1x12, 2x12, 4x12, 2x10, 4x10, 1x15, 2x15, 4x15, 1x18 and I'm sure there are even more!

Vox Blue speakers 1963

Hi,

I have registered here to try and get some more info on a pair of Vox Blue speakers I discovered in a cabinet which has been stored at my parents house since about 1985, the stamped code suggest they are October 1963 speakers.

I will post some pics , but I dont really have a use for these and I have seen some sold for quite high prices, is this normal for this speaker?

I was thinking of posting them for sale on this forum?
Thanks for any info.

They do seem to have gone up in value recently, but to get those kind of prices they really have to be mint, and work properly of course. So give them a good checking over. Also people generally prefer and pay more for the speakers with pulsonic cones stamped H1777 or 003 rather than the RIC stamped cones. This should help:

The most important tests are the spider support check, coil rub check, and the circuit test.

Vox blues do keep a good value even if the cones are torn to shreds so if you find any issues with them, just be honest about it and you should still get a good price. But they do have to be mint with original pulsonic cones for the collectors to get excited and fork out the big bucks.

Hi, Thank you for the information,I checked and they do have 34/ H1777 on the back of the cone, so I guess thats good ?

I will endeavor to carry out the other checks then I think I may sell them, as much as I would like to use them , I really dont have a decent cabinet or head to drive them.

Hi, so I tried the speakers and they seem to work fine, all the evidence suggests they are indeed 1963 with the number 34/H1777 on the cone.

I tried some of the other checks in the thread suggested and all seems good.

I am intending to sell them if there is any interest on this forum?

Thanks,
