The Champion is R2523. Here's some quick schematics I drew up of one I had in the shop. There might be some mistakes.

Nice! I need to dig out my Champion and see how close it is, the only thing that was messed with was the power supply, everything else looks stock. I'll assume these were running 5AR4/GZ34 types? Think I ran a 5V3 or 5U4G in mine, not a problem for the monster Zenith console TV power tranny I stuffed in it as she came to me PT-less. Kinda hangs funny from the handle when you transport it!

The amp I had here was using a 5U4 from the looks of the pictures I have here. I was never certain the preamp tubes were correct. It had a 12AU7 in V3 and I seem to remember the PI being an AU also though I don't have it marked that way in the schematic. Something was wrong with the amp as it looks like it was only putting out about 6 watts from my measurement written on the power amp section. It was several years ago so I don't remember much about the amp. I have some pics of the guts.

Thought the 7199 was the pi tube, 12au7's for sure, not sure about the reverb drive and recovery....

Edit: Ok, 7199 reverb drive, 12au7 reverb recovery, pi could be an AT or AX.....probably be a rare bird that would still have the tube chart..... :(

Nope, 7199 definitely V2 and drives the reverb.

Amp seems to be a mix of several Sano models.

Thanks!
I haven't started tracing yet since I'm having too much fun playing around with it. I'd never biased a 7591 amp before and couldn't use my standard probes so I spent some time yesterday figuring that out. I also swapped the stock 500k volume pot out for a 1Meg for a bit but put back the original. I do like the 1Meg better though since it gives it a faster volume sweep and perhaps a bit more gain on tap.

Jerry P --

Thanks so much for posting this schematic. Would you mind if I added it to the website at www.hilgenamplifiers.net?

Thanks!

That's ok with me John. Thanks for asking. I'm in the process of drawing it up a bit cleaner looking. I'll post that one too once I get around to finishing it.

Somewhat OT, but somewhat relevant as well....

I'm looking for a Challenger to replace one that was recently stolen :(

Also, a value for insurance purposes would be helpful. I can only make a guess.

Thanks, Paul

Here are some pics from a model 2521 Pacesetter I picked up from ebay. I think the circuit is identical to the Champion but slightly different layout for the combo. The speaker which looks stock is 8 Ohm.
