ID Help (Valco?)

Postby Korodesu on Sat Dec 10, 2016 4:43 am

Thinking about going to check this amp out but the seller wont take any more photos or look inside to help me ID it. Says it's an old gibson amp but to me it makes me think of something Valco or Silvertone put out.

Features that stand out
-Says it's a 2x12 ( but it could be 2x10's)
-3 plastic knob (vol, treb, bass maybe?) and looks to be a jack.
-Double pinstripes?
-speaker baffle look to have 2 horizontal bars running in front of cones (never seen that)

Kind of at a loss. If I take time to run down to check it out I'd like to know what Im getting into. Any help is appreciated.

That amp looks extremely similar to my Univox U75. Mine has 2-10's and the grill cloth and tolex look exactly like that. Also that handle bracket is the exact one used on the U75 as well. There are some differences but Univox was notorious for making slight variations of amps without really declaring them as different models. It is NOT a Gibson.
