DuKane Model 1U550A tube amp

Postby 64xlch on Sun Jul 31, 2016 3:43 pm

Hi. First time user on this forum. Just acquired this amp - originally used in a university campus as a PA system. At this time, I have not yet tested this amp. It has two 6L6GC power tubes and a rectifier tube. I am looking for DuKane manuals and schematic specific to this amp - have yet to find anything on the 'net so far. Would appreciate any assistance on where I can find info related to this amp. Thanks in advance!

Is it similar to this model?

You can typically find a SAMS Photofacts document on stuff like that but I don't see that particular model so you will likely have to look for one with the same tube line up and use that. Good luck.

Hi Tman. Appreciate your response and link. Unfortunately, it isn't the same configuration. The 1U550 amp has two 6L6GC tubes, 1 - 5u4GB rectifier tube, 1 - 12AU7 tube, 2 - EF86 tubes. It almost reminds me of an early model Fender Bassman amp - very simple design, clean tones, etc. It has one tone pot, one 'level' pot and one 'mon' volume pot. The DuKane has a small speaker built in and I am thinking/assuming that the 'mon' volume put is for that speaker.

Thanks again for your input - much appreciated!

I noted there's pretty limited info on those.
