Amp Identification: Old Tube Amp w/Jensen Speaker

Postby midbellmusic on Wed May 18, 2016 9:46 pm

I have recently acquired an older tube amp that has a Jensen R series speaker in it. The brand looks to have been removed off the front. It can make out some of the letters, but I'm at a loss for what brand of amp this is. Any info would helpful. Thanks
Josh

It could be just about any name. Many amplifiers were made with the retailers name on it. For example early Sears "Silvertone" amps were made by Dan Electro, as were some Montgomery Wards "Airline" amps. Valco made amps for Gretsch, National, Supro, Airline, etc. Ampeg even made amps under the names Masco and Giulietti and probably any retailer who ordered a significant amount of their products.

It would be helpful if you could supply any codes on the transformers as some builders were known to use certain parts in their amps.

I am very green with vintage amps. I know that these are not the numbers that you are looking for. I do not see any numbers on the transformer, and I am a little leary on trying to remove anything from it. Hopefully these additional picture are helpful.

OK. The output transformer is mounted to the top of the speaker frame and it looks like it has some numbers stamped into the housing. Can you read them?

The amp does work. The volume knob is very stiff and barely moves. I added some closer pictures for those numbers.
