Supro 6422 & Gretsch 6152 owners help

Postby Grandwazoo on Sat Dec 14, 2013 3:17 pm

I just picked up a Gretsch 6152 with a Supro grill logo and supro knobs. Has anyone ever seen a Valco amp outfitted with different parts? The grill cloth looks like supro , I guess its possible someone changed out the entire baffle, but would'nt achieve much since they both had a 10" jenson unless previous was blown. I personally dont think it was messed with, the baffle screws look untouched with no burrs and secondly why would anybody change out the ultra cool "G" knobs that came on the Gretsch? You might want to try emailing Terry Dobbs. He may have an answer.... 8)

It has only been a little over 2 years. Give it another three... I personally think that is cool as hxll. Love the Valco/Gretsch/Supro/National/ETC amps!!

They were the same amp according to Schematic heaven

the same schematic for both, I'm guessing They ran out of Supro Chassis' and used the Gretsch

In my opinion, someone changed the grillcloth, installed a Supro logo. They "harvested" the "G" knobs because they were also used on vintage Gretsch guitars; where the originality is worth more.

I have the Airline version of that amp, really a great little amp! I recovered it a few years ago, and installed one of Ted's speakers.
