WEM Dominator MK3 or Bass MK1 mains Transformer

Postby Pitchfork on Tue Feb 16, 2016 7:51 pm

The HT secondary is short-circuit so I need a replacement
I think the output is 285-0-285V & the heater is 6.3-0-6.3v
It's a through chassis type & is 100 x 80 mm
I'm not worried if there are no primary taps as long as it's 230V UK mains
Can any one help me with either a used one or a source of a new replacement?
Thank you

I'll look at a Fender Deluxe / Deluxe Reverb power transformer. Voltages specs look close to what you need, size is smaller need only light mod to fit.

Thanks but it looks too big
Needs to be 100 x 80mm & 85mm high otherwise it wont fit in chassis (drop through)

Too big ??? What dimensions are you reading ?
Below ;
3.18 inches = 80mm
2.5 inches = 63.5 mm
2.75 inches= 70mm
2 inches =51mm

Bolt mounting centers measure approx. 3.1875"X 2.5", requires a minimum rectangular opening in the chassis approx. 2.75"X2". We recommend installation by a professional amp tech. Brand New. Genuine Fender 0041316000. UPC 717669104559.

100 x80mm seems an unusual footprint; you may need to get it re-wound if you want to keep it looking stock, which would take a lot of financial persuasion!
This one looks close http://modulusamplification.com/18-Watt ... 88319.aspx
Some electrically equivilant PTs here http://www.fmicassets.com/Damroot/Origi ... matics.pdf or if you're prepared to re-wire the rectifier to FWB and save a lot of money http://www.ampmaker.com/store/0-190-275 ... ormer.html
To fit them, an adaptor plate make need to be made, eg from a bit of aluminium.

It's also suitable for the WEM Custom 15 (I've just fitted one)
Seems like WEM Mains Transformers of a certain age have all decided to fail at the same time!
