help with Matchless Lighting Filament Voltage MM P18RS-M

Postby howaboutthat2015 on Sat Jan 02, 2016 8:41 pm

Hi Folks,

Im trying to use a MM P18RS-M on a Lighting based new build but just realised that my PT doesnt have a 5V filament tap as required but it does have one 6.3V for EZ81s.
I was wondering if there is any way I could use this transformer for the build or need to buy a new one, I guess the 5Y3 needs AC on the filaments so cant reuse any of the secondary taps?
Could you help me out verifying this?

Specs and Schematic attached

I see a 5.8 volts tap on you power transformer.
5Y3 tube need 5 volts at 2 amperes.
Use this tap and read voltage on 5Y3 heater . IMO, 0.8 volts more is not too high.

Why MM spec sheet show 5 volts and your transformer show 5.8 ?
