A real Gent and someone who continued to invest in UK jobs and paid UK taxes when it was fashionable to ship everything to China. I guess if he'd made vacuum cleaners in Malaysia he would have got a knighthood...

He was offered 100 Million Pound - CASH - to sell Marshall back in the early '80's I think it was. He politely replied that he didn't need the money and the company that bore his name was not for sale. :thumbsup:

$hit, I had a feeling this was coming, but I'm still not ready for it. His invention added a lot of enjoyment to listeners/players lives, and Marshalls became popular enough culturally for bands to feel a Marshall stood for status and success. What a contribution... RIP Jim!
